1992 ken hill

ken hill was traded by the cardinals to the expos for andres galarraga straight up in november of 1991.  here is his 1992 o-pee-chee card
here's the topps front:
now the o-pee-chee back:
and the topps back:
in his first season in montreal, hill set a career high in wins with 16 (he would match that feat again in 1994 and then in 1996 with texas). his 16 wins were the third best in the national league, and he finished 8th in the league in era with at 2.68 and in shutouts with 3, but got no love in the cy young voting thanks to monster years from greg maddux and tom glavine. in 1994, it was a different story. hill finished (a distant) 2nd in the voting to maddux while helping the expos to their fantastic but tragic 'what if' year. the expos were 34 games over .500 when the strike wiped out the postseason. the team literally never recovered.

hill returned to the cardinals for the start of the 1995 season, but was traded to the indians that july. he pitched well for the al champs in the playoffs, but took the loss in game 4 of the world series. after the season, he signed with the rangers and then finished his career with stops in anaheim, chicago, tampa bay, cincinnati and boston (although he never pitched in the majors for cincy or boston).

voici à vous, 1992 ken hill!
