with tony fernandez in the wings, the blue jays sent their shortstop, alfredo griffin (along with o-pee-chee variation favorite dave collins), to the a's for bill caudill. here is griffin's 1985 o-pee-chee card.

griffin put up solid numbers in his 3 years in oakland, including a career high 64 rbi in 1985 when he also won his only career gold glove. he began his tenure with the a's with a 9-game hitting streak and played in all 162 games in two of his three seasons there. he would later be used to acquire the missing pieces in oakland's postseason puzzle, while himself becoming a cog in the unlikely dodger world championship machine.
