los angeles was the sixth stop on the 12 team journey (13 if you count both of his stops with the cubs separately) that was mike morgan's career. he signed with team number 7, the cubs, after the 1991 season. here's his 1992 o-pee-chee card.
here's the topps front:now the o-pee-chee back:
and the topps back:
the topps card looks a little neon because i pilfered the image from the million card giveaway site. i got lazy and gave the scanner a break. anyway, morgan made the all star team for the first time in 1991. he pitched the 9th inning for the nl team, retiring kirby puckett, carlton fisk, and roberto alomar in order. while morgan lost more times than he won, he was resilient. his 22 year career spanned 4 decades! after being a part of some really bad teams (the 1979 a's and 1988 orioles were two of the worst), he won a world series ring with the diamondbacks in 2001, pitching brilliantly in his three appearances in the series.
voici à vous, 1992 mike morgan!
