gary pettis had already won four gold gloves by the time he signed with the rangers as a free agent prior to the 1990 season. here's his 1990 o-pee-chee card
here's the topps front:now the o-pee-chee back:
and the topps back:
he essentially replaced cecil espy in an outfield that also included ruben sierra and juan gonzalez. pettis promptly won another gold glove in his first year with texas, although it would be the last of his career. he made just 2 errors and had 10 assists with a fielding percentage of .993. not too bad. on the other side of the ball, he had a pretty typical gary pettis season. a lot of steals, a lot of strikeouts, he got on base about a third of the time, and had a batting average in the low-mid .200s. pettis played a total of two years for the rangers before heading to san diego and then back to detroit to finish his career.
voici à vous, 1990 gary pettis!
