1983 rich gale

it's the final day of rich gale weekend here at oh my o-pee-chee!

rich gale was traded from the giants to the reds in january of 1983. here is his 1983 o-pee-chee card:

for the first time in his career, gale was used primarily as a reliever. he started only 7 of the 33 games in which he appeared for the reds, and had a record of 4-6. he also saved a game and hit his second career home run, this time off of steve trout.

1982 rich gale

gale had a record of 42-33 after 4 years with the royals, despite an era of 4.38. with the giants, gale went 7-14 with an era of 4.23. gale got to hit for the first time in his career in 1982, and despite striking out 34 times in 48 at bats, he managed to 'slug' his first career home run - a two-run shot of off doug bird, who had been gale's teammate with the royals in 1978.
