1990 walt terrell

in november of 1989, walt terrell signed a free agent deal with the pirates.  at that time, going from the yankees to the pirates was considered a good move.  here is his 1990 o-pee-chee card:

terrell lasted less than a full season in pittsburgh as he was released in july of 1990.  he was 2-7 in 16 starts for the bucs with an era over 5.  shortly after his release, he was signed by the tigers, the team for whom he had his most success in the mid-1980's.  back in motown, terrell went 6-4 in 13 games (12 starts) with an era around 4-and a half over the remainder of the 1990 season.  he pitched for the tigers in 1991 and 1992 before calling it quits.

1985 walt terrell

the mets traded walt terrell to the tigers in december of 1984 for howard johnson.  here's his 1985 o-pee-chee card:

terrell had the best 3 seasons of his career, from a win-loss standpoint anyway, with the tigers starting in 1985.  he won 15 games in both 1985 and 1986, and then won 17 in 1987 as he and the tigers won the american league east.  terrell got the start in game 3 of the alcs, which was the only game the tigers would win in the series.  terrell didn't get the decision, though, as he surrendered 6 runs in 6 innings and was relieved by mike henneman.
