the reds traded jack armstrong to the indians in november of 1991. here's his 1992 o-pee-chee card:
here's the topps front: now the o-pee-chee back:
and the topps back:
armstrong had fallen pretty far from his first half performance in 1990. armstrong was 11-3 at the break, and he started the all-star game for the national league that year, striking out the bash brothers in his two scoreless innings of work. he proceeded to lose each of his first 4 starts after the break, and 5 of 8 before being sent to the bullpen. still, he pitched 3 scoreless innings in the world series that year, helping the reds sweep the favored a's.
with the indians in 1992, armstrong's struggles continued as he lost 15 games for the tribe and again finished the season in the bullpen. after the season, the marlins selected him in the 1993 expansion draft, ending his tenure in cleveland.
voici à vous, 1992 jack armstrong!
