1983 don baylor

the 1979 al mvp, don baylor, signed as a free agent with the yankees prior to the 1983 season.  here's his 1983 o-pee-chee card:
here's the topps front:
now the o-pee-chee back:
and the topps back:
baylor's first year in the bronx was a very good year.  he hit over .300 for the only time in his career, and posted his second highest career ops of .856.  while his power production remained steady, his batting average fell substantially the following two seasons, and he was then traded to the red sox in march of 1986.  that move began a three year stretch in which baylor was a member of a world series team each season - the red sox in '86, twins in '87, and a's in '88.  he hit a huge home run in game 6 of the '87 series to help turn the tide against john tudor and the cardinals en route to a 7th game victory.

voici à vous, 1983 don baylor!
