franklin stubbs spent one year in houston before signing a free agent deal with the brewers after the 1990 season. here is his 1991 o-pee-chee card:
here's the topps front: now the o-pee-chee back:
and the topps back:
stubbs, of course, was a member of the dodgers' improbable 1988 world championship team. they had traded him to the astros after the 1989 season, and stubbs responded with his best season as a major leaguer. he tied his career high for home runs with 23 and set career bests in games, runs scored, hits, doubles, rbi, and stolen bases (he was one short of going 20-20). he parlayed that performance into a multi-million dollar deal with the brewers, where he replaced former teammate greg brock at first. over two seasons with the brew crew, stubbs hit a disappointing .220 with 20 total home runs. a free agent again after the 1992 season, he signed with montreal and boston without reaching the majors with either team. he sat out the 1994 season altogether, but came back to play in 62 games for the tigers in 1995.
voici à vous, 1991 franklin stubbs!
