1982 sixto lezcano

almost exactly one year after being traded to the cardinals, sixto lezcano was on the move again in december of 1981, this time going to the padres in the ozzie smith trade. here is his 1982 o-pee-chee card:
here's the topps front:
now the o-pee-chee back:
and the topps back:

it was the second time in a year that he had been traded for a hall-of-famer (the december 1980 trade included rollie fingers). with the pads in 1982, lezcano played in 138 games as their primary right fielder. he hit 16 home runs and drove in 84 runs while batting .289. in 1983, he started out slowly, and was hitting just .233 when he was traded to the phillies at the end of august. in philly, he made the postseason for the first time, hitting over .300 in the nlcs against the dodgers although he was just 1 for 8 in the phillies' loss to the orioles in the world series.

voici à vous, 1982 sixto lezcano!

  1. The Padres card feels more festive. Love the OPC version of this. When you have a guy named Sixto Lezcano, who was traded for hall of famers, it just feels more appropriate to make a happy colored card.
