luecken pitched in 36 games for the braves in 1990. he went 1-4 with a save, and even got his lone big league hit (a double against the cubs' steve wilson) in three at bats that year. in september, luecken was picked up on waivers by the blue jays. he pitched exactly 1 inning of 1 game for toronto, giving up a single run on a homer by tom brunansky (his third of the game).
luecken, who had been a first round draft pick by the giants in the 1979 draft before deciding to go to texas a&m and eventually signing as a 27th round pick in 1983, was released by the blue jays after the 1990 season ended. he pitched for the cubs aaa team for a short time in 1991 before calling it a career.
