tracy jones was traded to the giants in december of 1988. here's his 1989 o-pee-chee card:
here's the topps front: now the o-pee-chee back:
and the topps back:
jones, who had been acquired by the expos during the 1988 season, was traded four times during his career. the deal that sent him to san francisco was the only one that occurred during the offseason. as a result, jones didn't play a full season with a single team after 1987 until he spent all of 1991 with the mariners.
in 1989, jones played in 40 games for the eventual nl champion giants and hit just .186 with no home runs. the giants sent him to the tigers in june of that year, where he hit .259 with 3 homers in 46 games. he played 50 more games for detroit in 1990 before they traded him to seattle. he finished the 1990 campaign by batting over .300 in 25 games for the mariners.
voici à vous, 1989 tracy jones!
Jones is now a talk-show radio host in Cincinnati on 700 WLW. He's on every weekday 3-6pm with Scott Sloan talking about stuff...some sports, some local, some national stories. If you can get past his arrogance, he's actually pretty good.
ReplyDeleteThe dude hit 27 home runs over 6 seasons spent with 5 teams. What's not to be arrogant about?
ReplyDeleteThat said, that red Expos batting practice/spring training jersey is my lochness monster of ebay, and it appears Casey may have one. Maybe that's the source of his arrogance.
