1991 hubie brooks

after the dodgers' acquisition of darryl strawberry in november of 1990, hubie brooks was traded after just one season in la to the mets in the deal that brought bob ojeda to the dodgers.  here's his 1991 o-pee-chee card that captures the transaction in text

brooks was drafted several times before he signed with the mets in 1978.  in fact, the expos, royals, white sox (twice) and a's all drafted brooks prior to 1978.  of those 5 teams that coveted him, three would benefit from his services - the mets traded brooks to the expos in 1984 to bring gary carter to the big apple, and he wound up finishing his career with the royals in 1994.  his second stint with the mets would last just one season, as brooks was traded to the angels for dave gallagher in december of 1991.
