1977 george scott

this is one of my top 5 favorite o-pee-chee cards - it's pretty badass.  it's the 1977 george scott card.

here's the topps front:

see how awesome it is?  same photo, but completely different.  i think it's the reflected part of the 'b' that gets me.  the airbrusher paid some real attention to detail on the o-pee-chee card.  since it's the same photo, i don't consider it a photo variation.  it is, however, a team variation and an autograph placement variation (the first i've featured).  notice how on the topps card the autograph is completely on scott's left side.  i think this may have been limited to 1977, but i'll have to keep an eye on 1980 and 1982.

same cartoon, but it's worded a bit differently.  scott rejoined the red sox, along with bernie carbo, in the deal that sent cecil cooper to the brew crew.  he had a great 1977 season for the sox, but faltered quite a bit in 1978 and was shipped to the royals during the 1979 season.  he finished that season, and his career, with the yankees.
