1977 don stanhouse

as they often did, o-pee-chee adjusted the facsimilie autograph and altered the cropping for the photo on another card.  this time, it's don 'stan the man unusual' stanhouse who gets the treatment.  here is his 1977 o-pee-chee card:
here's the topps front:
note the difference in the angles of the auto, as well as the lower left hand corner where there is slightly more of the '2' in stanhouse's number '26' visible in the o-pee-chee image.  now the o-pee-chee back:
and the topps back:
yes, even the cartoon was cropped, although this is not the first time that has happened - i just usually don't mention it since it's not really a variation.  at least i don't think it is.

1977 was a big year for stanhouse.  he set career highs in strikeouts (89) and wins (10).  in fact, he won 10, lost 10 and saved 10 for the expos in '77.  he also threw his final career shutout, made the last start of his career (16 of his 47 appearances in 1977 were as a starter) and hit his only career home run.  it was a big one, too - a grand slam off of the cubs' bill bonham in wrigley on july 6.

voici à vous, 1977 don stanhouse!
