in 1977, o-pee-chee didn't take kindly to all-star designations or rookie cups. dave kingman was stripped of the former. here's his 1977 o-pee-chee card:

and the topps back:
kingman did not make an all-star team in 1977, as he was too busy moving around the country. he began the season with the mets, but was traded to the padres in june. then, in september, he was claimed on waivers by the angels. nine days later, the angels sent him to the yankees. back in new york, all 6 of his hits as a yankee were for extra bases (2 doubles and 4 home runs). he signed a free agent deal with the cubs in the ensuing offseason and was rewarded with an iconic 1978 topps baseball card.
voici à vous, 1977 dave kingman!
