cardinals' closer bruce sutter became a free agent in november of 1984 and signed with the braves a month later. here is his 1985 o-pee-chee card: here's the topps front:

sutter had a heckuva contract season for the cards in 1984. he set career highs in games (71), games finished (63), saves (tying dan quisenberry's ml record 45), and innings pitched (122.2). he finished 3rd in the nl cy young voting and 6th in the mvp voting. but, that was 1984. in 1985, sutter's era jumped almost 3 full runs (from 1.54 to 4.48) as he appeared in 58 games and saved 23 for the braves. he was sidelined by shoulder problems for part of 1986 and all of 1987, but returned in 1988 to finish his career. the hall of famer retired with exactly 300 saves.
