after two years in the bronx, steve kemp was traded to the pirates in december of 1984. here is his 1985 o-pee-chee card:

part of what the yankees got in return for kemp (and tim foli) was jay buhner who was famously traded to the mariners for ken phelps. anyway, kemp hit just .250 for the pirates in 1985 with 2 home runs and 21 rbi over 92 games. in 1986, he played in only 13 games and his only home run (and rbi) came on an inside-the-park home run off of dennis eckersley. kemp was released by the pirates during the 1986 season and spent time in the padres and rangers' systems before resurfacing in the majors during the 1988 season for texas.
