in 1992, harris again appeared in only 8 games for the mariners, but this time he was traded to the padres. he appeared in 15 games for the pads that season, including once as a pinch runner. he got his first major league hit in his lone start for the padres when he beat ot an infield single against jimmy jones and the astros. in all, he was 0-2 with a 2.95 era in san diego in 1992.

harris faced barry bonds 3 times in his career, and retired him each time, including a strikeout.
