1977 dave pagan

o-pee-chee didn't try to improve upon the airbrushing, but they did adjust the facsimile autograph and modify the cropping of the photo on dave pagan's 1977 card.  here is his 1977 o-pee-chee card:
here's the topps front:
you can see that the left-to-right cropping of the photo is different, thanks to the guy over dave's right shoulder.

now the o-pee-chee back:
ron leflore gets a cartoon shout-out, and it's not for armed robbery.

and here's the topps back:
the pride of nipawin, saskatchewan, pagan pitched in 24 games for the expansion mariners in 1977.  he made four starts among those appearances, the first of which netted him his lone career shutout.  pagan's last game for the mariners came on the fourth of july against the white sox.  later that month, he was traded to the pirates for a player to be named later.  that player turned out to be rick honeycutt.

pagan was sent to the minors, but earned a september call-up from the bucs.  he struck out the first four batters he faced as a pittsburgh pirate in what was not only his lone appearance for the team, but his final big league game as well.  in all, pagan pitched 3 scoreless innings in his last game.  he spent the next two years in the pirates' minor leagues without ever returning to the big club.

voici à vous, 1977 dave pagan!

    1. I was in SK recently but didn't get as far north as nipawin, if that's where he resides.
