gary nolan's facsimilie autograph is closer to horizontal on his 1977 o-pee-chee card:
here's the topps front:now the o-pee-chee back:
and the topps back:
his cartoon, featuring a different 'nolan', is out of date, too.
nolan's 1977 season was unfortunately not a repeat of the two campaigns he enjoyed after sitting out the 1974 season due to injury. after winning rings with the big red machine in 1975 and 1976, nolan suffered from arm and shoulder troubles and appeared in only 13 games all season.
he made 8 starts for the reds and won his first four decisions before he was traded in mid-june to the angels. he made one start for the halos in june, one in july, one in august, and two in september, losing all four of his decisions for california.
the angels wound up releasing nolan in the offseason, and despite signing on with the brewers during spring training, nolan did not appear in another big league game.
voici à vous, 1977 gary nolan!
