boyd, who had pitched just 59 innings for the red sox in 1989, returned to form in montreal in 1990. he pitched 190.2 innings, won 10 games, and posted a career best era of 2.93. he shut out the padres twice in may, and later threw a three-hit shutout against the dodgers in september in his best game of the season.
boyd started the 1991 season with the expos and was pitching fairly well, but was traded to the rangers after blanking the giants for the final shutout of his career in july. he finished his career in texas that year, winning just 2 of 9 decisions for the rangers.
