wilkerson had been acquired by the cubs in the deal that sent rafael palmeiro and jamie moyer to the rangers. after two seasons and a collective .231 average, wilkerson left chicago as a free agent for the greener pastures of pittsburgh. he hit only .188 for the pirates in 1991, and then went 0 for 4 with 3 strikeouts in the nlcs. he did, however, have one big highlight in 1991 - a pinch-hit, walk-off grand slam against lee smith and the cardinals in the middle of september.
voici à vous, 1991 curt wilkerson!
